Dress themed birthday party

Hello to you on this rainy Thursday. With the boys both at school I managed to have a morning of crafting yesterday. I have been working on decorations for my nieces birthday in a few weeks time. My sister is the cake maker of the family and Erin has requested a party dress theme. So whilst Katie is busy working out the cake design, I have been making bunting and cup cake toppers to match. Erin loves all the pretty floral patterns in at the moment and her favorite colour is tourquoise, so I had a rummage in my paper stash and here's what I have made
I am yet to find a way to photograph bunting in a way to show its full effect, I am so pleased with this and can imagine it hanging in her bedroom after her birthday.
And here are the cup cake toppers

I really hope Erin is going to like her dresses and I will get some more pics on the actual day with the cake.

Thanks for stopping today

Halloween Candleabra

Hi and happy Monday to you all. You will remember at the end of last week I promised to show you my Halloween wreath, unfortunately the weekend turned out busier than anticipated with Mexican supers, last minute back to school purchases and Ben Nevis of the ironing world. So my Halloween wreath is still not finished, however a wreath will not be the only decoration in the Hobbs house this October 31st. Halloween gets bigger and bigger every year in our house and I just love making decorations for it. Anyway whilst shopping at the weekend I saw some black Candelabra's in the 99p shop and thought they would be perfect decorated up, so a few skulls here and some black net there voila!
Now they look super spooky on the hearth, but you can't see the real effect, so here they are with a lighter background
Not bad for £1.20 each and they will look fab, although I will not actually light them due to the net and plastic being flammable.

Hope you like them, and just goes to show a glue gun is one of the best things you can have in your craft room! I love mine.

Pin Wheel Birthday Card

I haven't had much time to craft since my last post as we have had friends to stay and the whole back to school rush, talking of which here's Finn and Sam yesterday
I can not believe Sam has started school, it has gone so quickly, how cute does he look?

Anyway I have only had a little time this morning to make a quick card, here it is

Its quite simple in design, I have cut the pin wheel myself as I do not have the die, but they are quite quick to make anyway.

That's all for today as I am off to work in a minute, but I am hoping to finish a Halloween wreath I have been working on over the weekend, so pop back then and have a look.

Floral Happy Birthday Card

Today is my nieces birthday Happy Birthday Laura. So I wanted to share with you the card I made for her. It is inspired by one of the cards in the catalogue, but with my own little take on it.

I have only just got my hands on a piercing kit and enjoyed using it on this card and what a difference it makes. I have used the gorgeous flowers again, which I just coloured with markers. This is not one of my usual colour combos, but I do like how it has turned out.

My Boys Themed Bedrooms

OK so as I was explaining the other day we moved into a new house at the end of June and I have been busy Decorating the Boy,s bedrooms. When we moved in Finns room was a nursery.
And this was Sams room
As you can imagine neither were patically impressed with the decor. Although completely the wrong colours they were relatively blank canvases.
OK with Finn it was a close thing between Dr Who and Star Wars but in the end he opted for the dark side and this is the finished result.

I must admit when I was painting the various battleship grey colours on the walls I had concerns, but it has turned out really smart.
Samuel wanted a Batman theme which kind of evolved into Marvel comic characters, again the blue was a worry as it was going on the wall!

As much as it is nice to finish a house, which we had just done on the Island, It is nice to start one again and I have really enjoyed decorating these first two rooms.
I hope you like them, tomorrow I have a new birthday card to share. Thanks for stopping by

Craft Room Storage

I wanted to share with you two things I have purchased from next for my craft supplies to live in. Firstly yesterday I bought this from Next, some friends gave me vouchers as a leaving present and I saw this and had to have it.

Sorry about the poor lighting, I am yet to have a light fitting connected. I love it and as you can see some of my bits and bobs have already made themselves at home.
The second thing is also from Next, but I have had it a little longer and I think equally gorgeous.

The only improvement I could suggest for this caddy is that it had wheels as it is a little heavy if I need to move it, but again perfect for my stampin up kit.

I am determined to fill my ugly cupboard with beautiful things! You can also see my new  re homed chair courtesy of my mother in law in the background and I have some old worktop to make my desk out of, so it is all coming together.
Thanks for stopping by, tomorrow I want to share some of my recent DIY projects with you so make sure you pop back then.

My Craft Cupboard

I have been looking at some beautiful craft rooms online recently and I am soooo envious. Unfortunately I am lacking in a spare room and the nearest thing I am going to get to a craft room is the under the stairs cupboard. So am I going to be able to spread my entire stash out? NO, am I going to be able to share my desk with anyone? NO, but am I going to be able to craft somewhere in piece and quiet, YES, well depending on how many people are going up and down the stairs, lol
OK it's not very pretty and you need a little imagination, but I am gong to have a wide worktop desk down in to the stairs with storage underneath. I am going to utilise the risers by buying some clever IKEA storage and shelves down the other end of the cupboard. Luckily I am a short ass and can easily clear most of the steps. I hope to be able to report progress on my crafty cubby hole soon.

Lego Birthday Card

I have just been looking through some of my older projects and realised I have never shared this card which I made for my youngest sons birthday earlier this year. I had seen a few examples of Lego cards on the internet, but adapted this one to include the Lego head.
As always my sister was in charge of the cake making and she made this matching gluten free cake for Sam.
The cake was fab, but unfortunately it was made in Southampton and he got a little travel sick on the red jet back to the island, but Sam was still made up with it.
Thanks for stopping by today, I am patiently awaiting a stampin up order, so hopefully I will have some new projects to share soon.

It's been a while!!!!

Hi, it definately has been too long since I blogged, in fact it has been over 6 months. I have really missed crafting and sharing my projects on my blog, but the first half of 2013 has been soooooo stressful for me and my family that there was just no room for my craft stash.
It all started when we heard one of the prisons on the island was going to be closing as Gary is a prison officer, this had a major impact on us and has resulted in us moving off the island. All is well now, we have a lovely new house and we are back with the larger family in Southampton. We have been here 6 weeks and missing the island and all our friends, but I am now desperate to get back to chilling with my craft kit, I am also trying to set up a new craft hidey hole in the only space in the house yet to be claimed (under the stairs), but I will keep you posted on that.
So here it is my first project

We had a wedding invitation arrive for an old friend, it was lovely to receive a hand made invite, so I just had to make an acceptance to go back.
I just love this beautiful floral ribbon.

There you are the first of many happily made projects, I hope you like it and please pop back again soon.

Heart Birthday Card

I promised a happier project for today and this one is lovely and bright and full of hearts!
Ok so this is using the Polka Dot Series Paper again in Rich Razleberry and Old Olive I have also used Very Vanilla Card stock and a retired pen Almost Amthyst, which was the nearest colour match I had to the non Stampin Up ribbon. I have had my heart dies for a little while, but with Christmas I haven't really had the opportunity to have a real play with them, it was worth waiting for as I really like this layering effect. The little cirle stamp is from the Posy Punch stamp set and the cake from the hostess set Happiest Birthday Wishes. I love this colour combo and always find myself using it, it reminds me of the make and take I made at the first Stampin Up Party I went to.
Thanks for coming by my blog today, feel free to leave me a comment it is always nice to hear from fellow crafters.

Sharing In Your Sorrow Sympathy Card

Today I am sharing with you a sympathy card I have made, these are by far my least favorite cards to make, for obvious reasons, but I make myself make them so I have them in my stash. This is a simple one I hope I can put in my box and not have to use.
I have used the stamp set Hopeful Thoughts, the card is Crumb cake and Very Vanilla (I seriously need some more coloured card stock), I can't remember which stack the paper was from sorry!
Thanks for stopping by today, come back tomorrow for a happier project (I promise).

Card Triplets

I really am using my crafting for therapy in this dark and dismal January, hence why I am able to blog a project a day. Today I am actually sharing 3 projects with a similar theme. They are all baby cards and they have all been made using last years Nursery Nest Papers and embelishments, which I adore.
The last 2 cards I photographed in the evening and so the light doesn't really do them justice. Apart from the sentiments all of these cards are stamping free. Thanks for stopping by today hopefully see you back soon.

Christmas Wreath

Yes I know and for this I am truley sorry, it's just I love making them and instead of having Christmas paper kicking around all year I thought I would use it up and get ahead!
So here it is my first Christmas project of 2013. As with all my photography it looks like the ribbons aren't straight, but it is actually my camera skills! Thanks for popping by today, have a great weekend

7 of 7

Thank goodness its Friday!!!!
So here it is my final card (or cards) of my 7 day challenge. All my other cards I have made for my stash and for no one in particular, however I have a couple of birthdays coming up in the office, where we are reknown for how much caffine we in take and so I just had to make a couple of cards with the Morning Cup set, which I think is adorable.
Thnk you if you have been stopping by all week, I hope you have liked my 7 cards in 7 days and I am now well on the way to completing this years card stash (who am I kidding I am up to about March!) There will be more projects to come, so see you soon

6 of 7

Hello happy Thursday to you all, firstly for those of you who read my blog yesterday and was probably a little confused that I had used a flower stamp from the proud peacock set, that was just a random mistake I popped in. The flower was actually from Flowering Flourishes and I have no idea why I thought it resembled a peacock! Anyway today I am sticking with the Flowering Flourishes set for my next card.
This is by far my favorite design of the week, but to make 8 of these did take some time as the colouring of the stamps with the markers is quite time consuming. I absolutley love this set and this card is actually insprired by a scrapbook layout in the Stampin up Catalogue on page 121. To make this card you need Old Olive and Very Vanilla cardstock, the inks are Island Indigo, Old Olive, Pretty in Pink and Raspberry Ripple. I have also used the Lables Dies and the Elegant Butterfly Punch finished off with my favorite sentiment set Curly Cute.
Thank you for stopping by tomorrow will be 7 of 7, however I am in the crafting zone, so there will be more projects to follow (dare I say I was making a Christmas wreath last night) You can never be too prepared!
